Arlene Kane
Director, Board Member, and Soprano
One of the founding members of the Company, Director Arlene Kane has sung the leading soprano roles in all three productions. She has also appeared in
and directed shows with many local theater companies. Arlene enjoys working with children and teaches Jewish music.
Arlene holds a BA in Theater from Hunter College and an AA in Music Performance from Five Towns College. She performs her original one-woman musicals, From Fledermaus to Fiddler-History of the American Musical, and To The Golden Land-The Immigrant’s Journey to America, throughout the New York Metropolitan area.
Marty Geller

Leading Bass-Baritone
Marty has done all the bass-baritone roles in the G&S canon in english and has been a member of the Yiddish group since its inception in 1984. He has performed the roles of Der Mikado, and Shmir Mir in Der Yiddisher Mikado, and Shloime the Shlemiel in Der Yiddisher Pinafore and the Groyser Gazlen in Di Yam Gazlonim. He has also been the tech director for the group. He hopes to continue as long as he is able.
Mike Cesarano
Leading Tennor and Board Member
Mike has been a member of the CUNY (City University of NY) Theatre faculty since 1993, teaching various courses in Performance and Media. An experienced theatre practitioner, Mike has worked as actor, director, stage manager and sound designer. He studied acting with F. Murray Abraham while earning his MFA from Brooklyn College. Mike sits on the board of various arts organizations including the Greater Westbury Arts Council and the Long Island Music Hall of Fame’s Education Committee. He is a noted scholar of baseball uniform history; having been cited in several books and publications. Mike continues to seek out work as an actor, not only to continue to grow as an artist but as a means to inform his teaching work.
Nicole Oliva
Leading Soprano and Board Member
Nicole Oliva, born and raised on long island, graduated from Five Towns College with a BFA in Theatre Arts in 2012. A classically trained singer, she has been a part of a variety of different plays, musicals, technical crews, Films, concerts and operas. Previously working with groups such as The Dix Hills Performing Arts Center, Amadeus Opera, Twitch Twitch Productions, BBR Rose Theatre and South Shore Theatre Experience.
Nicole is one of the newer memebers of the GSYLO but has been an asset since joining in 2013. Nicole not only works as a singer/actress in the group, she also assists with costumes, choreography, and maintains our website.
